Changes and Factors Determining the Efficiency of Cattle Farming in the State of Pará, Brazilian Amazon

Livestock production in the Brazilian state of Pará, located Amazon biome, faces challenges related to sustainable chains and competitive systems. Historically, expansion pastures has led environmental pressures low productivity. The objective is evaluate changes cattle raising efficiency microregions Pará identify factors contributing efficient at level. data analysis techniques used include Data Envelopment Analysis, Malmquist Index, Tobit Regression. study found that, on average, there was a marginal improvement livestock over analyzed years, increasing from 0.75 (75%) 2006 0.76 (76%) 2017. However, nine out 17 showed individual efficiency, while five decline. Non-family agriculture, credit, land prices were identified as that negatively contributed activity’s inefficiency, specialization soybeans deforestation positively inefficiency. suggests financial support for technological infrastructure improvements, more rigorous policies, environment can further contribute improving farming Pará.
